Since its early beginning, Christianity has been impacted by surrounding cultures. As a result, while its core beliefs have remained unchanged over the centuries, the practice of the Christian faith has changed. The course on Christianity and Culture will look at how culture influences the understanding of the biblical history and how Christianity in turn, influences and shapes culture. The course will examine the core doctrines and practices of Christianity as well as how current (alien) culture has influenced those doctrines and practices. Attention will be given to the Church, Judeo-Christian traditions, Christian worship, and the interpretation of Scripture. Focus will be place on relevant scriptural texts that guide the lifestyle of Christians today. The course is ideal for missionary work in Africa.
