About Course
This course explores the complex relationships between Christianity and African sociocultural practices, delving into the rich cultural heritage and diverse traditions of the African continent. Students will examine the historical and contemporary intersections of Christianity and African traditional religions, cultures, and societies, including the ways in which Christianity has been indigenized and contextualized in various African settings. Through a multidisciplinary approach, drawing on insights from theology, anthropology, sociology, and history, students will analyze the biblical and theological foundations for Christian mission and practice in African contexts, as well as the social, cultural, and economic factors that shape African societies.
