This course introduces the fundamental characteristics and drivers of digital economy. The course offers students with insight into digital economy possibilities, such as digital economy strategies and other information-based business models as opposed to the normative asset based models. Students will get the understanding of the circumstances for knowledge based production in the digital economy, including machine learning and artificial intelligence as opposed to traditional-based production within the confines of human cognitive and contextual abilities. The course provides insights into the paradigm shift in economic logic, communication and distribution patterns brought about by digital economy’s marginal costs. In addition, the consequences and opportunities provided by digital economy for consumers, employees, businesses and societies will be explored.
