About Course
This interdisciplinary course examines the dynamic relationships between Christianity and African sociocultural practices, exploring the historical, cultural, and theological intersections that shape African societies. Students will engage with key topics such as African traditional religions, cultural identity, development, politics, ethics, and social justice, analyzing the complex ways in which Christianity has been indigenized and contextualized in various African contexts. Through a critical examination of biblical texts, scholarly readings, and case studies, students will develop a nuanced understanding of the role of Christianity in shaping African cultures and societies. By the end of the course, students will be equipped to think critically about the intersections of faith and culture in African contexts and develop practical strategies for ministry and practice. The course aims to foster a deeper understanding of the complexities of African Christianity and its implications for social justice and community development.
